Q1: I have purchased the assessments but haven't received my username and password yet. Why I haven't received my login information?

A: Upon a successful payment Paypal you should receive two emails. First, Paypal will automatically notify us and will send you a receipt. Second, after receive a successful payment notification from Paypal, we will automatically send you a welcome email with the login information to the email address you have provided with your payment. Typical reasons why might not receive the welcome email are:
  • You submitted payment in a form of eCheck or other method that cannot be instantly cleared with Paypal. The login information will be sent to you after your payment is cleared, and it may take up to several days if you paid with eCheck. If you haven't received your login info in a few days, please contact us.
  • Your email address that is associated with Paypal (or the email address you provided with your payment) is invalid or disabled. Make sure you can access the email address you provided. If you used an invalid address, please contact us and provide an alternative email address as well as you phone number.
  • It is possible that the welcome email went to your junk/spam email folder. Make sure to check your junk email folder. If you find it in the junk email folder, move it to your inbox so it would not filter out future communication from us.
  • If you are behind a corporate firewall, it could be that the email was filtered out by the corporate spam filter before reaching your mailbox. In this case please contact your network administrator or your support desk and let them know you are expecting an email from hrpersonality.com, in order to make sure that the emails from hrpersonality.com can be delivered to your mailbox.
  • If your payment did not go through, you will not receive the login information.

Please note that payments with major credit cards via Paypal are typically completed within seconds. 

If, after receiving a payment receipt from Paypal, you haven't received your login information from us, please contact us and in your inquiry please provide all details about your payment. When contacting us please provide an alternative email address and your phone number where you can be contacted.


Q9: Once I have purchased assessments, what can I do from within my HRPersonality account?

A: As an administrator of your HRPersonality account, you will be able to:

  • Invite your respondents from within your account, from any place in the world, to complete the assessment online, on their own and then you will receive the results.
  • Generate various reports about your respondents such as General and Specialist reports for the Workplace, Career Development report or Job Compatibility report.
  • Group your respondents as required. You can create as many groups as you need. For example, they may correspond to job openings you wish fill in, teams you work with, team building workshops or your customers.
  • Analyse a group as a whole or compare respondent profiles using Group Summary report.
  • Export behavioural indices to Excel for further analysis.
  • Print the reports or save reports on your computer as a PDF.
  • Optionally enable your respondents to access their own results.
  • Analyse the effect of adding or removing a person from a group.
  • Use results of assessment for improving team performance.
  • Use results of assessment as a part of your candidate selection process and behavioural interviewing.
  • Assess various useful resources that can be used together with results of assessment.
  • Receive customer support

Q15: Getting started instructions

A: You start by sending an email to your respondents with instructions, they will complete assessment on their own and you will receive an email notification once they complete their assessment. This process is automated.

After you log in to your account, the following options will be presented as hyperlinks on the home screen:

  • Start an assessment, invite respondents to complete assessments on their own...browse the results...
  • Buy assessments
  • Submit inquiry
  1. You should use the first option,"Start an assessment, invite respondents....". Please choose this option by clicking it on the home page after you login. This will take you to the "Begin Assessments in General Group" screen which will present the instructions for the next step
  2. On the "Begin Assessments in General Group" screen, click "Email instructions to the respondents" link (the first option). This will open your email program prefilled with a template that you should send to your candidate(s). The template contains the instructions the web address and the login information they need to know in order to complete assessment online on their own (e.g. from home). All respondents in the same group share the same instructions and login information. You can invite all respondents in the same group with one email. The login information in the template for respodents is different from the one you are using as the administrator. Do not share your own username/password.

If for some reason the "Email instructions link" fails to launch your emailing program and pre-fill it with the template, you can click the "Show instructions" link on the same page, select the text, copy and paste it into your emailing program.

This is all you need to do in order to invite your respondents to complete assessment.

Once a respondent completes their assessment, you will receive an email notification about it. To access their reports

  1. Log in again to your portal and again choose the ,"Start an assessment, invite respondents..., browse the results..." (the first option).
  2. Click "click here to browse the results" link, this will take you to the screen listing the respondents who completed the assessments and their reports.

Please note you can group your respondents, for convenience, e.g. by position you are filling in. To create groups, click "Group" tab after you log in. For more details please read FAQ#13.


Q2: My respondent says he or she completed the assessment but I haven't received the report. What should I do and why this may have happened? Was my account charged?

A: You can review the status of the assessments within your HRPersonality account by clicking the “Respondents” tab. There are several possible scenarios that lead to this situation.

  • The respondents who have successfully completed the assessment will be listed on the “Respondents” tab and the “Assessments” column will display the number of assessments they have completed (typically 1).
  • If your respondent is not listed, then the respondent hasn't actually registered and hasn't completed the assessment. As result, your account was not charged and no credits were deducted from your account. Please instruct your respondent to complete the assessment. To email the instructions, click the “Groups” tab and select “Start” next to the group the respondent belongs to. Select “Email instructions” link on the next page. It will open your emailing program pre-filled with the information to be sent to the respondent.
  • If your respondent is listed but the “Assessments” column indicates “n/a-repeat”, then the respondent has registered with the assessment portal but hasn't completed the assessment. This might have happened e.g. if the respondent closed the browser window half way through or if it took longer than 30 minutes to answer the questions so the session had expired. Your account was not charged and no credits were deducted for this transaction. Please instruct your respondent to repeat the assessment. The instructions to repeat the assessment can be displayed and sent by clicking the “n/a-repeat” link next to the respondent's name.
  • It is also possible that your account has insufficient credits to complete assessments. The number of credits is displayed in the brackets on the “Credits” tab. A single assessment requires 19 credits. If the number of credits is 0 or less than 19, you have to purchase additional credits. You can purchase the additional credits online by clicking the “Credits” tab and then clicking “Buy Credits” link and following the instructions. After purchasing additional credits, you will need to ask the respondents that are not listed in the “Respondents” tab or listed but show “n/a-repeat” in the “Assessments” column, to repeat the assessment as explained in the previous two bullets.

Q3: I want to administer the assessment on a paper. Is it possible? How can I print the questionnaire?

A: Yes, you can print the questionnaire, collect the responses, enter the responses into the system and generate the reports:

  1. The printable questionnaire in PDF format can be downloaded from your HRPersonality account. You can print this form and hand it to your respondents to fill in. To download, login to your account, click “Groups” tab, then click “Start” link next to the assessment group you use. On the next page click "Download printable paper form".
  2. After you collected the responses, log in to your account and click “Groups” tab, then click “Start” link next to the assessment group you use.
  3. On the next page select “Enter manually collected paper form responses”. You will be prompted to enter respondent's name and responses.
  4. Repeat the steps 2 and 3 for each respondent

Q12: I purchased assessments from www.hrpesonality.com website.
Why, after I log in, I don't see the results of previously completed assessments.
OR: I after I log in, I still don't see my account has been credited and I can not invite new respondents.
Why is this happening?

A: If you have an existing account (evaluation or full), you should purchase additional assessments from within your account. To purchase additional assessments, click the Customer Portal” tab to log in with your username and password and use the “Buy assessments” link on your home page after you logged in. Don't use the “Purchase” tab on this website.

If you have purchased new assessments directly from www.hrpersonality.com website without logging into your account, a new account is created. That's why you don't see new credits from within your previous account or don't see previously generated results.

In case you ended up having multiple accounts, you may continue using them independently. We can also consolidate your accounts upon your request. Please contact us via the support center.


Q16: I want our candidates complete assessments in my office, using a designated computer. (I don’t want them to complete assessments on their own, from their homes, over the Internet. Instead, I want them to come to our office and do it there.) Is it possible? How do I do it?

A: Yes it is possible. You can have your applicants complete personality assessment using a computer in your office with internet connection. You will have to use a special entry page for respondents. The results will be available in your account.

You can find this URL by clicking the “Groups” tab,  then click the “Start” link next to a group and then click the “Show instructions” link. This URL starts with http://respondent.hrpersonality.com and includes credentials for an assessment group within your account. You could save this URL in browser’s favourites/bookmarks.

When respondents visit the entry page they will be prompted to enter their name and their email. Then they will be presented with JTPW questionnaire. After they completed the questionnaire, they click the “Submit” button to submit the responses. To end a respondent session, click the “Logout” button. This will bring you to the respondent login page again, ready for your next respondent.

To obtain and review the results, log into your assessment administration account (http://business.hrpersonality.com).

Alternatively you can print the assessment questionnaire, let your respondents fill in their responses and then enter them manually later into your account to obtain the results. A printable questionnaire is available for download.  For more information please read this FAQ


Q19: How do I, as the administrator, enable each respondent to access their own results?

A: To enable respondents access their own results please change group settings:

  1. click the "Groups" tab
  2. click the "Setup" link next to the group you work with
  3. make sure "Browse" and "Post-browse" checkboxes are checked next to the report you want to share with the respondents
  4. click "save"

The new respondents will be able to access their own results upon completing the assessment. The existing respondents will be able to access their results online with their the username they received when they completed the assessment. As an administrator, you have access to all results regardless of these settings.


Q13: I need to conduct personality assessments for different organizational functions, job titles or groups of people. Is it possible? Do I need to purchase separate HRPersonality accounts?

A: Yes it is possible from within the same account. This is achieved by using “Groups” feature of HRPersonality account. “Groups” is a convenient way to group your respondents. You can create as many groups as you need. For example, they may correspond to job functions you wish fill in, teams you work with, team building workshops or your customers. To setup multiple groups, click the “Groups” tab in your HRPersonality account.


Q18: How can I access my purchase and transaction history? Can I print my order details?

A: To see the purchase history of your account, log in to your account and click the “Credits” tab, then click the “Browse Payments” link on the left hand side. To view and print your order details click the Order ID link.

To see the list of transactions click the “Credits” tab, then click the “Browse Transactions” link.


Q4: Is it possible to remove a respondent from a group or to move a respondent to another group?

A: Yes. Within your HRPersonality account, you can do it by using MOVE feature to move this respondent to another group:

  1. Create a new, blank group by clicking the “Groups” tab and selecting “New Group” link on the left pane. If you want to move an assessment to an existing group, then skip this step.
  2. Open the list of assessments in the group. Click the “Groups” tab and select “Browse” next to the group you want to remove an assessment from.
  3. Click "Move" link at the end of the respondent record that you want to move. Specify the group you want to move the assessment to (the blank group you have created in step 1)

Q5: How the effect of adding (or removing) a person to a group can be analyzed? For example, how can I access the effect of introducing a new team member to a group? How can I access the effect of a team member leaving a group?

A: The Group Summary report together with the assessment Move feature can be used to analyze the effect of adding (or removing) a person to a group.

To analyze the effect of adding a new member to a group:

  1. Create a group in your HRPersonality account that contains personality assessments of all current members of the group
  2. Generate the Group Summary report for this group and save it as PDF or print it to capture the results. Note the shape and the values of Group Personality Radar chart on this report, as well as the personality type distribution chart for the group.
  3. Add a new respondent to this group by moving his or her assessment result into the current group by using Move feature as described in FAQ #4
  4. Generate the Group Summary report again, save it as PDF or print it to capture the results.
  5. Now you can compare the Group Personality Radars and type distribution charts on the reports for the current group with and without the new respondent and analyse the differences resulted from adding the new team member.

To analyze the effect of removing a member from a group:

  1. Create a group in your HRPersonality account that contains personality assessments of all current members of the group.
  2. Generate the Group Summary report for this group and save it as PDF or print it to capture the results. Note the shape and the values of Group Personality Radar chart on this report, as well as the personality type distribution chart for the group.
  3. Create a temporary blank group in your HRPersonality account e.g. called “Temporary”
  4. Move a particular respondent in from the current group to the Temporary group by using the Move feature as described in the FAQ #4
  5. Generate the Group Summary report for the current group again – now without a particular respondent, and save it as PDF or print it to capture the results.
  6. Now you can compare the Group Personality Radars and type distribution charts on the reports for the current group with and without the new respondent and analyse the differences resulted from adding the new team member.
  7. You can then use the Move feature inside the Temporary group to move the respondent back to the current group.

Q11: I'm about to send an assessment invite to a group. Will everyone in that group use the same login and password?

A: Everyone will receive the same group login information. When they log in, they will be prompted to register with their name and email, for identification, and proceed to individual assessment. They will not be able to access each other's results or to see who the rest of respondents in the group are.


Q6: How can I use the personality assessments to foster teamwork, within and across department?

A: Within organizations, understanding and applying the theory and practice of Jung personality type can profoundly affect people and the overall work environment and culture. As it is normal and healthy for people working together to have a variety of opinions and attitudes, the challenge facing organizations and leaders is how to direct these distinct personalities so they work effectively toward a common vision with synergy and group cohesiveness.

Using typology, a leader can learn to understand what motivates each individual and then create the conditions for superior performance. Typology can assist in developing a culture that is creative, productive, and fulfills both personal and organizational goals.

As an individual within a team, each person can be aided by typology to better understand how he or they prefers to function in everyday working situations. As individuals begin to comprehend their own preferences and the forces that direct them, they gain a better appreciation of their own styles and unique abilities. Further, different individuals are motivated by different things and have their own distinct reactions to change, stress, and challenges. By adopting this approach to working with others, individuals will more readily accept and understand other team members from their own frame of reference, building bridges between the gaps that naturally occur between types, positively effecting communication, cohesiveness, and interpersonal relationships in a team.

Q7: How to keep an employee engaged?

A: There are several ways to approach it. One aspect is understanding an employee's personality type.

Different personalities are driven and motivated by different things. One may need an approval and praise in order to perform, another one does not. One needs to communicate with others to feel good, another one needs to be alone. And so on. The work engagement and performance is at its best when employees strongest personality qualities are engaged.

Q8: Can soft skills be taught? Can soft skills be learned?

A: The soft skills can be trained and learnt. However, to some individuals it comes more naturally, and to some - less.

Jung Typology Profiler for Workplace identifies an individual's natural preferences, and is very helpful in developing soft skills, e.g. it can be used to understand the most effective ways of interacting with other personalities.

Q11: I am not sure which personality features to look for in a candidate. What can I do?

A: You may want to have your existing employees complete JTPW™ personality assessment and review their JTPW Personality Radars, in order to identify what personality qualities distinguish your top performers from the rest. Then you can look for similar qualities in the new candidates.

As well, you can analyse job requirements and the specifics of the workplace environment, such as corporate culture, the team a candidate will be joining and the manager a candidate will report to, in order to determine the best fit from personality standpoint.


Q14: How can I use JTPW personality assessments in succession planning?

A: JTPW personality assessment can be very helpful in succession planning. The following activities may help a succession candidate to engage in a new role faster and establish effective relationship with to-be subordinates, peers, and managers.

  1. Analyse successor candidate’s natural strengths and weaknesses in light of the new role, by completing JTPW personality assessment of the successor candidate, and reviewing his or her JTPW Career Development report.
  2. Analyse the to-be subordinates (direct reports) of the successor candidate, i.e. obtain and review personality profiles of the to-be direct reports.
  3. Based on the results of the previous two steps, elaborate practical guidelines for the successor, for leveraging successor’s natural personality strengths and managing natural weaknesses, and for establishing effective work relationship with the to-be subordinates. It may be useful to share personality profiles (or the key highlights from the profiles) of the to-be subordinates, with the successor, to help him or her establish effective and productive relationship faster.
  4. You can also analyze JTPW personality profiles of the to-be peers and managers of the successor candidate, and develop recommendations for the successor, for establishing effective relationship with the to-be peers and managers.

Q20: How can I conduct assessments in a language other than English? What languages are supported?

A: Yes JTPW™ questionnaire and instructions for respondents are presently available in English, Spanish, French, Indonesian and a number of other languages. You can control which languages are available to your respondents. The administrator’s user interface and the reports are in English only.

You can view and configure language options available to your respondents via the “Options” menu in your portal.

The language in which a respondent completed the assessment is indicated in the “Responses” report.

The questionnaire and instructions to respondents can be provided in a language that is not presently built into the system, as a custom order. Click here to inquiry about adding a new language and request a quote.


Q21: Can I display my company's logo to my respondents?

A: Yes The registration screen for respondents can be configured to display your logo image. This is what your respondents will see when they are prompted to register and complete assessment. The maximum size is 800x120 pixels. Please send us the URL or the image file of your logo.

The custom logo is the only customization that is included with the service. We might be able to provide additional customizations for you for a fee - please contact us with your requirements.


Q22: Are the 16 personality types determined with the JTPW™ instrument the same as the personality types determined with the MBTI® instrument? For career and business coaching purposes, if I am considering using the JTPW™ instrument vs. the MBTI® instrument why should I choose the JTPW™ instrument?

A: Personality types determined with JTPW™ draw from Carl Jung's theory of personality types and so do personality types determined with some other tools such as the Myers-Briggs® instrument. However, they are different instruments, with different methodology, questionnaire, scoring and reports. The JTPW™ assessment and its results are not based on, nor incorporate the Myers-Briggs® assessment methodology. The results obtained with the JTPW™ assessment do not necessarily correlate with the results obtained with the MBTI® assessment. We do not sell the MBTI® assessment.

The JTPW™ instrument is designed for applications in the workplace, including obtaining an indication of favorable career choices and a description of the most favorable working environment. We do not know whether and how well the MBTI® instrument addresses this area. The JTPW™ assessment goes beyond the four Jungian dimensions by evaluating additional behavioral dimensions that are more relevant in the workplace.

Q23: Can the behaviors described in the assessment reports be different from the respondent's actual behaviors?

A: Yes. The results of personality assessment do not constitute a description of the respondent’s actual behaviors. The results of the JTPW™ assessment only provide an indication of the likely behavioral preferences of the respondent based on the responses provided by the responded and on the assessment methodology. An individual’s actual behavior may be different from the one indicated in the report. The factors behind the difference may include but not limited to, the following:

  • Individuals are capable for changing and adapting their behavior, e.g. to the requirements and norms of the culture they are in
  • The assessment relies upon responses provided by respondents
  • The expressiveness of respondent’s behavioral preferences
  • The limits of the assessment methodology
  • The assessment might be inaccurate or not valid for a specific purpose you are using it for

To confirm the behaviors indicated in the JTPW™ assessment reports, the users must use more direct assessment methods e.g. interviews, direct observations, performance evaluations. For ethical use guidelines click here.
